Nouns used in singular form never take the plural form



There are certain nouns are suggested by grammar which can be effectively taken up for your better competitive English preparations & English communication skills.

There are nouns used in singular form and there are certain usages of grammar which can be used all singular nouns used in the plural form. It has a different usage.

The following nouns are used in singular:



Rice, fuel, hair, abuse, scenery, luggage, advise,furniture, alphabet, bedding, stationery, information,mischief, infantry, issue, machinery, offspring,physics,

Incorrect-The poetries of Kalidas  are not from western thought.
Correct- The poetry of Kalidas is not from Western court.

Now we come to know that those nouns which are used in singular sense must take singular verb. Sometimes we use different phrases like:

A great deal of,  a bit of, an item of ,a lot of little,  to use  plural nouns in singular sense of form. 

About noun; as above suggested Nouns  can not be plural  forms by adding s, es, and ies. 

We can't say ,  'furnitures'  it is obviously wrong in use because 'furniture' is used as a plural noun.

We can say ' A set of furniture , 'An item of furniture.'

Such: A  piece of information is used to express about 'information' when used in singular form. 

Kindly follow dictionary and get to know  more about  nouns which are only plural or countable and uncountable. There are some restricted rules in English Grammar which are to be accepted as it is.
