Bilingual Methods - English Learning by Odia Language

 

It is broadly seen that bilingual Method has advantages and disadvantages for foreign language learners. Most of the cases, students pick up commonly used phrases which can be connected by mother tongue. It is very obvious that learning becomes smooth and easier if interpretation can lead a major role in understanding a language by the help of bilingual method. 

It is widely approachable to reciprocate for communication building in bilingual language learning process. A learner can adopt English when his or her mind immediately translates into native spoken language. Here it goes comfortable with language communication moreover, it has many disadvantages when learning becomes faster, in addition to that it promotes depending attitude by the support of mother tongue which takes place actively. where a learner becomes slow in target language. 

There must be a direct approach to learn English language but it needs to be understood that translation should be by sense not by word to word, because contextual ability of words and uses must be very clear by the active language learns to inculcate the learning behavior. 

English language has different vocabulary meaning and entry where Odia language is quite opposite in structure differentiation that's why language can be taught and learnt easily by the process of indigenous languages. It can be improved by the same language when interpretation  takes a prominent role in mind for comprehension. 

There are grammatical structures in Odia and English that need to be understood broadly. Odia medium school learners have a less command over English communication where as English medium school going students hold strong command without any hesitation to communicate. Now it is an interesting question to be discussed? In Odia teaching school, English is taught by Odia language and explained the prose , grammar and poetry of English in regional languages. Firstly it can be analysed that learners learn English and receive knowledge in native language in respect of better understanding where it could have been taught in English by English receptive method of acceptance to enhance language skill. Generally it does not happen accordingly. so, This can be understood that bilingual learning manner can take an active role in  English language learning. It will make it faster and better in first stage of language understanding & development. Secondly it is thought that English Language is learnt by English communication in speaking, reading , listening and writing. That can be influential learning where the language adaptability will be smarter and better in communication. 

In conclusion, There are many benefits of language enhancement. Odia to English to be accepted for communication and other way around, it has some disadvantages that learners may be slow in communication and  grow poor pronunciation. But it can be widely accepted that learning a language is a process of upskilling professional requirements as well as usual application approaches. It matters a lot, how a learner is picking up a language by easiest reciprocation. Therefore, It is broadly believed that bilingual learning and teaching can educate target language for uses in day to day life.
