Collective nouns used in plural forms - Grammar Point




As English grammar plays a prominent role to show right direction to the language. Here are some collective nouns they always take plural verbs.

Here is the list.

Polish, people, vermin, cattle, mankind, nation, folk, public poultry,  cattle,  pigeon, tree,  gentry,  clergy,  audience.

Use all nouns as a plural and use plural verbs after them.

Ex- Police are...... police have...... police were......

Incorrect: Public is waiting for upcoming movies.
Correct: Public are waiting for upcoming movies.

Kindly follow some grammatical rules and look up dictionary for more meaning.
