IELTS Speaking Tricks for better practice

Don't cram the answers.

The experienced experts, examiners with band descriptors are well versed to take interview for speaking assessment.

The examiners are observant who have interviewed a large number of candidates. They will quickly recognize if you give them a memorized response by cramming possible answers or if you speak freely with prompt thinking. You would have to learn how to paraphrase sentences and use vocabulary correctly and efficiently. This is only possible with a lot of practice.

So begin phrasing your answers in your head as you speak. Learn meaning and understand the meaning contextually of the words generally, people use in interviews and speeches by reading and listening to them. This will improve your vocabulary knowledge and allow you to apply the correct word into the sentence while responding the examiner.

Make an effort to provide complete responses.

Stop answering questions with Yes and No in a monosyllabic type and instead construct a proper sentence. Elaborating on your response shows the examiner that your range of vocabulary is strong and you are confident and flexible. If you reply in short sentences, the examiner will be unable to assess your abilities of using words skillfully. Extend your response with some personal relevant examples and explanations. It will show that you communicated with a quick answer and did not memorize it.

Avoid using large and unfamiliar words.

The intension to impress the examiner with bombastic  and complex words in  Speaking test can not work properly. It needs to express formally and prominently in a flexible manner. However, to be safe, avoid using unfamiliar words. There is high possibility of committing errors by mispronouncing words or using them inappropriately. Mistakes can bitterly impact on target band score.
