What is self correction when speaking?

 

It is specifically observed in the form of correction in any speaking errors lays on rectification. When objection is not considered as right advice for the person who is making incorrect speaking, moreover, if he or she learns to proceed with self-correction then it will lead to establishment of success stone in target language.

This can be followed by below suggested points:

1.   Give a pause and correct grammatically.

2.  Repeat the phrase or word which delivered by slip.

3.  Rectify pronunciation by articulation.

4.  If first sentence or phrase goes wrong, make it right in other phrases.

5.  Clarify by sense what you mean to say.

6.  Use some discourse markers like: what is that called? What we say that? What we can call that? What is the actual word of….?

7.  Make correction, the moment you realize any mistake.

8.  Take feedback and correct yourself then and there.

9.  Go back and check where you committed wrong.

10.Do practice with proofreading & proof listening before you present your speech.

 

Admitting fault with positive attitude leads to learning ability. It increases your confidence to acquire knowledge. It is obvious that one can go by self correction initially, after a few years, self correction will be omitted automatically and one can have fluency in speaking effortlessly.
